Impact Hold Whitecaps to Draw; Reds Win Voyageurs Cup

Toronto FC clinched its second consecutive Nutrilite Canadian Championship on Wednesday, despite not being involved in the title-deciding match.
Vancouver Whitecaps squandered a second-half lead and could only manage a 1-1 draw against Montreal Impact. The result eliminates Vancouver from Voyageurs Cup contention and essentially turns next Wednesday's tournament-closing match in Toronto into a friendly.
After drawing their two home matches in the NCC - including a 0-0 result against Toronto on May 19th - the Whitecaps needed wins in both of their road games to surpass Toronto. TFC beat Montreal twice to take 7 points from their first three games.
The draw in Montreal leaves Vancouver with just 3 points in the tournament, and with only one game remaining they will not be able to catch Toronto.
The Voyageurs Cup will be presented to Toronto FC for the second year in a row at BMO Field on June 2.
Toronto's triumph qualifies them for the CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round, where they will now face ex-Reds midfielder Amado Guevara and his CD Motagua teammates. The first leg of that tie will be played in Toronto between July 27th and 29th, with the second leg taking place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras between August 3rd and 5th.

"Roberto is an intense athlete, an excellent person and an important player on our roster, but his gesture is unacceptable,” declared Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos.
